⚓ Captain’s Log ⚓

The musical flow of this lineup will take listeners and dancers on a mind-bending psychedelic journey through the fabric of space and time, providing an unparalleled sense of inner clarity, peace, and serenity as they are lifted up from the physical plane of reality into beautiful, non-corporeal dimensions of existence.  We encourage early arrival at this gathering in order to enjoy the full experience this gathering has to offer.  Furthermore, each member of the gathering has a unique cosmic energy to share with the rest of us, thus increasing our harmony, and raising our energetic potential.  It is our goal to extend the length of this state of maximum potential energy to encompass the entirety of the gathering, providing gatherers with an abundance of love and positive energy all throughout the experience.

To begin the musical journey, the music will start with the sounds of AMBIENT, MID-TEMPO, and DARK ELECTRONICA.  As the energy is gradually lifted upward, we will move into the sounds of TECHNO and PROGRESSIVE HOUSE.  The vibe will groove right along adding nuances of PROGRESSIVE TECHNO, HOUSE, TRANCE, and more all fused together into an upbeat blend of modern PROGRESSIVE music.  Next the sounds will take a turn for more PSYCHEDELIC VIBES, all with a PROGRESSIVE groove.  The sounds will become MINIMAL, although growing faster into the harder sounds of PROGRESSIVE and NIGHT PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE.  The energy, now approaching critical with throbbing rolling basslines and the harder edged sound of NIGHT PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE will have the gathering in full spin.  By this time we have reached the peak hours of the night, and the vibes of a looming morning sunrise will begin to take hold.  The energy will shift towards deep, funky, TWILIGHT and early/deep MORNING PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE.  It is around this hour, before and through the sunrise that most of our live acts will play their sets.  Subtle MELODIES will begin to take form amongst the abstract textures of PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE.  As the sun rises, dancers will be UPLIFTED with deep emotional, yet intelligent MELODIC MORNING PSYTRANCE, moving into more FULL-ON MORNING vibes as the morning draws later.  As the sun reaches position above gatherers in the sky, the music will shift back towards harder PSYCHEDELIC FULL-ON bringing us into the afternoon hours.  The energy will become refocused and transformed from trance into PSYCHEDELIC BREAKBEAT to smooth out the mind before the end of the musical journey.  Finally the music will shift into some MELODIC TECHNO and PROGRESSIVE to finish out the journey.  As we reach the end of the gathering, dancers will be physically tired, though emotionally and spiritually empowered.  With renewed lightness in our steps we can return to the world, until the next cosmic excursion…

✯ ★ Adults Only ★ ✯

(Donations go directly towards paying the costs of the gathering including: sound/audio equipment, DJs/artists, venue costs, decor, lighting, artwork, gas, travel expenses, etc..  In addition, a portion of each donation will go towards the local volunteer fire department, to support the land we are enjoying!  We will be accepting further donations on site for anybody who is able and willing.  Most of all, everybody involved with this gathering is doing this because we love the music, the people, and the beautiful creativity of the scene.  We have no sponsors, and all costs are coming out of our own pockets.  In addition, a great many volunteers are devoting their time, which has value beyond money.  We will be very happy and consider ourselves very lucky if we can just cover the costs of the gathering itself.  If there are any profits after that, they will be put towards more community based endeavors.)

✽☼ Environmental Containment ☼✽

This is a LEAVE NO TRACE gathering.  Please bring extra trash bags, and be extra sure to carry out ALL of the trash you bring.  Even better, if you see any other trash that somehow missed the trash bag, pick it up and throw it away; even if it’s not yours.  Not only will you be doing us and the land owners a favor, but you will also be doing nature a great service!  We will not have “public trash cans” on site, and instead encourage PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.  This PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY carries over to how you treat others, including their property at the gathering.  We are all one big harmonious family, and we owe it to ourselves to treat each other with the utmost mutual love, caring, and respect.  Most of our gatherers have attended such gatherings in the past, and understand this fully.  However, we do welcome new members of the family.  All we ask is that you take social cues, and follow these guidelines.

<-~ BOOM FESTIVAL ~->
July 28 – August 4th, 2012 – Located in Idanha-a-Nova, Portugal!

“Boom is based on the principles of Peace, Celebration, Psychedelic Culture, Art, Environment, Knowledge, Education, and Love. The idea is to create a space in this time continuum in which people from across the world can converge to experience an alternative reality – thus inspiring us to collectively channel the universal truth.

It is a festival dedicated to all free spirits. It is a celebration of intuition and telepathy where we witness a change in the way we communicate – eliminating the need for words.”

It is our belief that the views expressed in the mission statement of Boom Festival (as quoted above) are in line with the philosophy behind the Pulsar series of gatherings and events.  We happily represent them here in Southern California!

PAPER TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE ON SITE FOR 140 EUROS!!! PLEASE CONTACT STEVEN KAHN (the administrator of this page) FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION!!!

=============================================

“A NEBULA (from Latin: “cloud”;[1] pl. nebulae or nebulو, with ligature or nebulas) is an interstellar cloud of dust, hydrogen gas, helium gas and other ionized gases. Originally, nebula was a general name for any extended astronomical object, including galaxies beyond the Milky Way (some examples of the older usage survive; for example, the Andromeda Galaxy was referred to as the Andromeda Nebula before galaxies were discovered by Edwin Hubble). Nebulae are often star-forming regions, such as in the Eagle Nebula. This nebula is depicted in one of NASA’s most famous images, the “Pillars of Creation”. In these regions the formations of gas, dust, and other materials “clump” together to form larger masses, which attract further matter, and eventually will become massive enough to form stars. The remaining materials are then believed to form planets, and other planetary system objects.” -Wikipedia

“A PULSAR (portmanteau of pulsating star) is a highly magnetized, rotating Neutron Star that emits a beam of Electromagnetic Radiation. This radiation can only be observed when the beam of emission is pointing towards the Earth, much the way a lighthouse can only be seen when the light is pointed in the direction of an observer, and is responsible for the pulsed appearance of emission. Neutron Stars are very Dense, and have short, regular rotational periods. This produces a very precise interval, between pulses that range from roughly milliseconds to seconds for an individual pulsar.

The precise periods of pulsars makes them useful tools. Observations of a pulsar in a binary neutron star system were used to confirm the existence of Gravitational Radiation. The first Extrasolar Planets were discovered around a pulsar, PSR B1257+12. Certain types of pulsars rival Atomic Clocks in their accuracy in keeping time.” – Wikipedia

COMMUNITY: Above & Beyond Announce #GroupTherapyMiami with Arty, Mat Zo, Jaytech and Boom Jinx

Above & Beyond
Announce #GroupTherapyMiami
with Arty, Mat Zo, Jaytech and Boom Jinx

Miami Music Week 2012
Thursday, March 22nd
Bayfront Park Amphitheatre

Above & Beyond: Paavo Siljamäki, Tony McGuinness, and Jono Grant

Above & Beyond are bringing the Group Therapy experience to Miami Music Week 2012 with a special event at the legendary Bayfront Park Amphitheatre on Thursday March 22.

Joining Above & Beyond will be an all-star quartet of producers from their scene-leading Anjunabeats label - Mat Zo, Arty, Jaytech and Boom Jinx. Covering the full spectrum of the Anjunabeats sound, the event runs from 5pm to 11pm EST.

21 year old Arty should need no introduction having taken the trance and house worlds by storm in the past 18 months – melding them together in a way not seen before. 2011 saw him rise to #25 in the DJMag Top 100 poll, collaborate with Dirty South, perform NYE in New York City for a sold-out crowd of 10,000 revelers, plus gain support from the likes of Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Swedish House Mafia, and of course, Avicii.

Next to take on Miami is Anjunabeats’ very own ‘”Superman” Mat Zo, also just 21 years of age.  He has consistently cemented a reputation as one of the label’s most prolific, innovative and forward-thinking artists – with recent hits including “Bipolar”, the Skrillex-supported “Mozart” (with Arty) and “Superman” itself. The only man to top the Beatport trance and drum & bass charts simultaneously, Zo is currently working on his hugely anticipated debut artist album, which is primed to showcase his maverick talents in full effect.

Having topped the iTunes Dance Album Chart for two years running with his Anjunadeep 02 & 03 compilations, rising Australian DJ Jaytech is again mixing Anjunadeep 04 this coming February and has a new artist album planned for the summer. Jaytech is a man on a mission and the perfect choice to warm up a buzzing #GroupTherapyMiami crowd.

Finally, also joining this colossal Group Therapy Miami line up is Norwegian uber-producer Boom Jinx, one of Anjunabeats’ most talented, prolific and eclectic artists, with recent work ranging from the massive vocal trance anthem “Phoenix From The Flames” to deep progressive gem “Pieces Of The Puzzle” with Soundprank.

Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy show is centered around their critically acclaimed second artist album (“the biggest artist album of the year” – Mixmag), which features Billboard Dance hits like “Sun & Moon” and “Thing Called Love” – as well as their forthcoming single “Love Is Not Enough”. The show’s production takes the DJ set up into the realm of concert theatre, with emotive visuals, live video messaging from the band and a story-telling theme, combining to create a unique dancefloor experience for fans.

Check out the teaser of the emotional, cinematic official music video for “Love Is Not Enough” here.

Above & Beyond and their Anjunabeats label have also been nominated for a host of awards in the IDMA Final Ballot – which will be announced during Miami music week. Above & Beyond have been nominated for Best European DJ and Best Artist (Group), with their huge “Sun & Moon” anthem in the Best Trance Track category and Anjunabeats in the Best Label category. Completing their nominations is Trance Around The World, which is in the running for the Best Radio Mix Show. You can vote here.

The #GroupTherapyMiami event forms part of the Ultra Live series. Tickets are on sale here.

Above & Beyond is currently on the road for Part 1 of their Group Therapy North American Tour. Group Therapy Part 2 coming May & June 2012 – Dates To Be Announced! Check www.aboveandbeyond.nu for updates.

Chuckie, the King of Dirty Dutch, brings Amsterdam’s daring, sophisticated and sexy style back to Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for another year starting January 13. His exclusive 2012 residency promises to deliver all new custom visual programming and performers.

Named one of “The Dance Music Producers of the Moment” by Rolling Stone, Chuckie recently released the ‘Dirty Dutch Blackout’ compilation featuring his new hit “What Happens in Vegas.” “With great inspiration comes great music and the place that inspired me most last year is really Las Vegas.” Chuckie says of the track. “Vegas is now officially ‘housed’.” Indeed, Chuckie’s residency last year saw him command Marquee’s 40-foot LED DJ booth and  state-of-the-art Funktion One sound system to bring in a packed house every month.

Having risen to fame with chart successes such as “Let The Bass Kick” and “Aftershock,” Chuckie’s career has continued to develop.  He is a global phenomenon who never fails to win over legions of fans with his upfront approach to making and playing music. Taking dance and urban music by storm in Europe, The United States, South America and beyond, he is spreading the Chuckie flavor with his explosive beats, surprise FXs and adulated climaxes. 2011 also saw Chuckie join the BBC Radio 1 team to present his ‘In New DJs We Trust’ show, spinning to a world-wide audience and showing off his undoubted talent behind the decks.  As his stock continues to rise and rise, it seems the era of Chuckie domination is only just beginning.
