Mat Zo

Fast emerging as one of the most unique and talented artists around, Mat Zo is gearing up for an incredible summer. On May 14, his latest anthem “The Sky,” feat. Linnea Schossow, will be available worldwide on Anjunabeats, and beginning June 11 he will join The Language Tour along with Porter Robinson and The M Machine, in addition to other preeminent gigs across North America.

Purchase “The Sky,” Exclusively on Beatport

Mat’s newest dancefloor killer “The Sky” builds elegantly with a symphony of synths and leads into a sweeping breakdown fill of warm melodies and Schossow’s dinstinctive, searching tones. Lifting off with an epic thrust on the drop, “The Sky” is a classy crossover anthem that brings together elements of house, progressive, and trance into his own unique blend.

Taking the track down a more alternative and edgy direction, Zo’s bass-heavy Club Mix is full of schizophrenic magic; twisting through different sections effortlessly in an eight-minute voyage. Beginning on a big room progressive house groove, Mat moves into a melodic, synth-driven breakdown before flipping in to a gnarly bass-throttled section that has been causing serious damage in Mat’s recent sets from Miami’s Bayfront Amphitheatre to London’s Brixton Academy. Totally unexpected, the final drop comes loaded with surging synths.

Mat’s extensive North American schedule this summer is a true indicator of the young prodigy’s burgeoning demand and stardom. A large majority of the dates will include The Language Tour, joining another of electronic music’s preeminent young talents, Porter Robinson, and The M Machine, whose recent debut artist album Metropolis has met widespread praise.

To celebrate this upcoming tour, Mat has just released a new mix, the North American Fun Bus Mix. Check it out now.

Mat has also recently begun a YouTube series; ZoTV gives an inside look into the life of this burgeoning super star. Check out Episode 1 from Brixton Academy.

Jody Wisternoff - Debut Solo Artist Album - Trails We Blaze - 2012
Anjunadeep is proud to announce that Jody Wisternoff, a true pioneer of dance music, is set to release his debut solo artist album, titled Trails We Blaze on Monday, May 28th. Catch a preview of the album now in this exclusive “Trails We Blaze” Mini-Mix. Fans may also pre-order an autographed CD (limited supply).

Jody Wisternoff “Trails We Blaze” Mini-Mix: http://soundcloud.com/anjunadeep/jody-wisternoff-trails-we-blaze-mini-mix

Wisternoff rose to prominence within the electronic music scene over 15 years ago, when his famed Way Out West duo, alongside the also-legendary Nick Warren, began to dominate the EDM world. Tracks like “The Gift,” “Ajare,” “Mindcircus,” and “Killa” all established their world-class reputation, while numerous high profile remixes (Orbital, Inner City, Sasha) solidified their reputation as preeminent studio masters. The duo has also performed around the world, including a 5 piece live act in support of 2004’s Don’t Look Now album, and a huge tour alongside Faithless.

Even before his Way Out West fame, at the age of 13, a precocious Wisternoff made it to the finals of the DMC DJ Championships and was producing hip-hop soon after. Three years later, he was controlling the 5,000-strong crowd as a DJ at the famous 90s rave Universe, before helping to pioneer the early UK rave sound as part of West Country breakbeat outfit Sub Love (with Full Cycle’s DJ Die, later a member of Roni Size’s Reprazent crew).

The diversity of his past experiences combine to create his long-awaited solo artist album Trails We Blaze. Blending elements of house, nu disco, progressive, techno and bass, the album condenses Jody’s personal journey through music into 12 diverse electronic grooves, referencing his classic and contemporary musical loves.

Representing Jody’s modern take on Balearic grooves, tracks like the “How You Make Me Smile” (feat. Pete Josef) and the nu-disco influenced “Just One More” are both soulful and sophisticated, perfect for balmy summer nights.

The album isn’t without its darker shades though. Harking back to his years lost in Bristol bass bins, the hypnotic techno groover “95″ and the hip-hop indebted “Red Stripes” both reference Jody’s love of vintage jungle, while reworks of the Pete Tong-endorsed “Starstrings’ and the Beatport # 1 “Cold Drink, Hot Girl” update two of his most classic solo tracks.

Also available this month, remixes of “How You Make Me Smile” by Vincenzo (Dessous) and Celsius. These represent the diversity of Anjunadeep, as the label continues to push itself into the deeper and more varied sides of house music.

“Randall’s Island became a multiplex of temporary dance floors, with a stadium-scale stage for headliners and three tents with club-quality surround-sound systems.” —Jon Pareles, The New York Times

“Capping off a summer that saw the biggest electronic music events in U.S. history, Electric Zoo marked its third and biggest year yet.”  —Billboard.com

“The fest that began as a modest weekend event was something more, drawing crowds that were large even by music festival standards.” —The Wall Street Journal

“The three-day dance party on Randall’s Island had no shortage of new: New acts, new tracks and new grass (really!) filled the 24-acre island for 12 hours a day over Labor Day weekend… Despite the record number of attendees — over 85,000 fans showed up — Electric Zoo didn’t lose its sense of ease and comfort. Thanks to an increased number of restrooms, a variety of food vendors and the use of RFID wristband technology, which minimized entrance time, there were no lines to be found. And when you wanted to dance deep inside the tent, there was an actual dance floor and ample space to do so. When you’re talking about music marathons, these are small details that many festival producers overlook, the small details that can turn a great event into an exceptional one. ” —Huffington Post

“While it certainly is a spectacle, Electric Zoo was probably the happiest place on earth last weekend.” —Village Voice

“Electric Zoo [2011] was sick!  The crowd was unbelievable and brought an incredible energy to the city.” —Tiësto

“I felt like playing Electric Zoo [2011] advanced me as an artist.” —Porter Robinson
