Swedish techno icon Adam Beyer is poised to take over Miami Music Week 2013 with appearances at his own Drumcode label showcase at Treehouse on Thursday, March 21, Carl Cox & Friend’s Mega Structure at Ultra Music Festival on Friday, March 22, the requisite Miami pool party with Sasha’s carefully curated artist roster at Never Say Never on Saturday, March 23 and finally, to close out Miami Music Week – Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg go back-to-back at Miami clubbing institution Space on Sunday, March 24.

The Drumcode label boss is known for his cutting-edge and versatile style, ranging from tech-house to underground techno, regularly performing at world-renowned clubs such as Cocoon Ibiza, Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London and Tenax in Italy. Goa. Just the name conjures up images of hazy sun-drenched days and balmy nights filled with the sounds of evocative dance music. For years, this beautiful piece of Indian paradise on the west coast of the subcontinent has been associated with the purest forms of electronica, providing a hedonistic get away for the world’s most discerning music lovers.

For the past six years, the Sunburn Festival has proved to be the jewel in Goa’s crown. Sandy white beaches, searing heat and gently swaying palm trees have provided an intoxicating and exotic backdrop as the planet’s most celebrated artists perform for tens of thousands of festival goers from all four corners of the earth, year in, year out.

In 2012, and after much persistent lobbying, event organizers Percept agreed to give Adhiraj Singh and Kaushik Sinha of RE-Fractor Studios exclusive access to the festival’s seven major stages to create their own fan-based after-movie.

“This was actually our first ever Sunburn,” said Adhiraj. “Over the years, we had heard a lot about the vibe of the festival and it was on our bucket list to go see what Sunburn stands for, ourselves. Sunburn has opened up so many avenues for both Indian and global artistes/music, the audience, the ‘behind the scenes’ work force etc, that it’s not just a music festival any more – it’s something which is part of people’s lives.”

What followed was a true love letter to this incredible three-day happening. ‘Sunburn Goa 2012: A-Z Highlights’ captures the very essence and sense of community seeping through the Sunburn experience. Set to the goosebump inducing Rameses B track ‘Pegasus’, immerse yourself in this stunning piece of film, a once-in-a-lifetime gathering of like minds, peaceful souls and heartfelt, shuddering beats.

SFX Entertainment Buys Electronic Dance Music Site Beatport

SFX Entertainment, the company led by the media executive Robert F. X. Sillerman, has agreed to buy the music download site Beatport, part of the company’s plan to build a $1 billion empire centered on the electronic dance music craze.

Mr. Sillerman declined on Tuesday to reveal the price. But two people with direct knowledge of the transaction, who were not authorized to speak about it, said it was for a little more than $50 million.

Beatport, founded in Denver in 2004, has become the pre-eminent download store for electronic dance music, or E.D.M., with a catalog of more than one million tracks, many of them exclusive to the service. It says it has nearly 40 million users, and while the company does not disclose sales numbers, it is said to be profitable.

The site has also become an all-purpose online destination for dance music, with features like a news feed, remix contests and D.J. profiles. Those features, and its reach, could help in Mr. Sillerman’s plan to unite the disparate dance audience through media.

“Beatport gives us direct contact with the D.J.’s and lets us see what’s popular and what’s not,” Mr. Sillerman said in an interview. “Most important, it gives us a massive platform for everything related to E.D.M.”

Since the company was revived last year, SFX has focused mostly on live events, with the promoters Disco Donnie Presents and Life in Color; recently it also invested in a string of nightclubs in Miami and formed a joint venture with ID&T, the European company behind festivals like Sensation, to put on its events in North America.

In the 1990s, Mr. Sillerman spent $1.2 billion creating a nationwide network of concert promoters under the name SFX, which he sold to Clear Channel Entertainment in 2000 for $4.4 billion; those promoters are now the basis of Live Nation’s concert division.

Matthew Adell, Beatport’s chief executive, said that being part of SFX could help the company extend its business into live events, and also into countries where the dance genre is exploding, like India and Brazil.

“We already are by far the largest online destination of qualified fans and talent in the market,” Mr. Adell said, “and we can continue to grow that.”
