James Grant [Anjunadeep 05]James Grant
Now available worldwide, Anjunadeep 05, the new double-mix from Jody Wisternoff and James Grant, has hit #1 on the iTunes US Dance Chart in its first day of release. Featuring 29 exclusive tracks from Dusky, Tom Middleton, The Presets, Andrew Bayer, Matt Lange and many more, the album covers the best in deep house, electronica and melodic grooves that fit as perfectly on a home stereo as they do a 2am dancefloor. Each artist has also recently release a special mini-mix, previewing 5 tracks from their individual mixes.Jody Wisternoff’s mini-mix includes two exclusive new original tracks of his own, “We Are Heroes” and “Macbeth”, along with Alfred Taylor’s “Kuza” and Jody’s take on “Alchemy” by Above & Beyond. James Grant’s mini-mix features the brilliant “WYV AUW CHU” from Tom Middleton, along with Beckwith’s “Back To Love” and DAVI’s “The Time Has Come”.

On to the complete mixes, first up is label boss James Grant, whose annual compilation mixes are eagerly anticipated by the Anjunadeep faithful, and with good reason. Beginning with the beautiful chilled electronica of Croquet Club’s “Cardigan” (supported on BBC Radio 1 by Zane Lowe), Grant’s mix is loaded with exclusive original material from Dusky, Vincenzo, Tom Middleton, Beckwith and DAVI. The mix also features the exclusive Andrew Bayer & James Grant Remix of “It’s Cool” by Australian indie-electronic outfit The Presets, and two standout tracks from new talent Universal Solution. Grant’s mix is a measured and character-filled blend of modern melodic deepness.

Next, they welcome Bristol’s Jody Wisternoff to Anjunadeep mixing duties for the first time. One half of legendary dance act Way Out West, Jody has spent over two decades behind the decks, and his monthly ‘Intensified’ podcasts are a treasure trove of modern classics from across the house music spectrum. Bringing that sensibility to his first Anjunadeep mix, Wisternoff’s CD is a blend of sunshine-soaked deep house (San Francisco talent Lane 8’s brilliant “Be Mine”), melodic deep house (Alfred Taylor’s “Kuza”) and Good Looking-esque liquid jungle atmosphere (check Jody’s own rework of Skanna’s ’93 jungle classic “This Way”), with a garage curveball from current hotshots Leftwing & Kody and some deep washed out techno from Matt Lange and Andre Sobota along the way.

Dedicated to deep electronic grooves with emotion, soul and melody, Anjunadeep holds a unique position within today’s dance music world. Picking up rave reviews everywhere from Resident Advisor to DJ Magazine, the label’s releases regularly feature in the sets of the world’s most respected DJs. Solomun, Breach, John Digweed and Kerri Chandler are just some of those who have supported over the past year.

An A&R hotbed, the label is celebrated for releasing the debut artist album from Dusky, 2011’s critically acclaimed Stick By This, a duo that have since been described as “the toast of the UK underground” by Resident Advisor. They also nurture such talents as Matt Lange, Martin Roth, Beckwith and the exciting French producer Croquet Club.

About Tristan D:

It all started back in ‘95 when Tristan, still a youngster himself, first started tuning into pirate radio stations from his home in Brighton, religiously soaking up the electric sounds of Brit A-listers Graham Gold, Judge Jules, Danny Rampling and many more. Tristan soon became hooked on the pumping underground sound of house music and before long decided that this would, and could be his future- since his early youth, all he wanted was to be a DJ.

Tristan set his DJ career into motion at a remarkably ripe age of 14 when he decided to start promoting his own club nights called Twisted. He kicked off the Twisted parties in a number of underground clubs in Brighton and London and soon secured a reputation as a talented young DJ and promoter. A few years later, at the still very young age of 18, Tristan landed a residency at his favorite London club night Peach @ KOKO, where he frequently shared the decks with the talented Eddie Halliwell, Simon Patterson, Markus Schulz & many more. Soon after, he also began playing regularly for Serious @ The Cross, London

Tristan’s long term partnership with BBC Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules has kept him at the forefront of the industry. Working full-time alongside a legend in dance music, Tristan has managed to remain on the cutting edge of music production, and gets to spend his summers with Judge Jules hosting one of Ibiza’s busiest club nights, Judgement Sundays @ Eden in San Antonio.

Tristan’s DJing has taken him all around the world playing with world renowned DJs including Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk & many more. His style ranges from the Teky Maximal side of backroom house up to the more banging uplifting Trance.

As a producer, Tristan found success from the get-go. His collaboration with diffused music genius Anthony Brooks in 2006 got signed to Big In Ibiza records, taking them to the prestigious Miami WMC and catapulting Tristan into stardom in the studio. Since then Tristan has had countless tunes played on BBC Radio 1 and remixes signed to some of the worlds biggest record labels including Ministry of Sound (Data Records), Spinnin and High Contrast.

Tristan’s talent doesn’t stop there though. Tristan is also in the midst of a progressing Radio career; he has hosted shows on Ministry Of Sound radio, Fuzion FM & Sunshine Live in Germany.

Tristan’s diversity and skills behind the decks have made him one of the UK’s most versatile and hardworking DJs.

Whether he’s playing a 20,000 capacity arena or a 200 capacity club, he rocks it every time bringing every ounce of energy to his sets and taking his crowds on a sonic journey into the best sounds dance music has to offer.

This summer you can catch Tristan every week @ Judgement Sundays at Eden, Ibiza as well as at London’s famous Gallery nights @ Ministry Of Sound. Tristan also promotes his monthly club in London, remaining one of the top promoters in the city.

Over Labor Day weekend, Made Event presented Electric Zoo 2012, and once again transformed New York City’s Randall’s Island into a multiplex of music, lights and dancing, along with 100+ of the world’s best and brightest electronic music artists. The 3-day bonanza hosted 110,000 avid fans with sold-out capacity crowds on Saturday & Sunday.

Bigger than ever in its fourth year, Electric Zoo’s technological advances helped transform the festival landscape. Intellitix’s RFID technology was again embedded in wristbands to help festival-goers enter quickly through the front gates. The stadium-scale Main Stage featured high-resolution motion-controlled video panels that created a massive sense of scale, which could be reconfigured live to create unique looks for each individual artist. The Riverside Stage included custom-designed 3D LED technology used for the first time ever at a live electronic music show. Meanwhile, the Hilltop Arena saw a wall of LED panels and mirrors set at specific angles, working in tandem to bathe the tent in a sea of lights and lasers. And over at the Sunday School Grove, original custom-designed school buses integrated LEDs with 3D projection mapping to create an immersive mixed-media experience. In every tent, club-quality sound systems enveloped fans with impeccable sound engineered by Integral Sound.

Electric Zoo 2012 also saw the return of NYC’s finest food vendors & trucks, which offered everything from hand-tossed gourmet pizza, and Korean BBQ to organic ice cream. Also returning was the Garden of EZ, a chill-out zone featuring mind-altering art and lights, full of a thousand neon butterflies from artist Gizem Bacaz and giant mushrooms from artist Dan Park.

But most important of all, Made Event committed to creating a fun and safe environment for its fans; free water refill stations, designated Help Points and the simple idea – Many Animals, One Zoo: Help Each Other Be Safe! With positive vibes all around, Electric Zoo 2012 was all about connecting music and friends old and new. Thank you Zoo animals. See you at Electric Zoo 2013 for the five-year anniversary!

Electric Zoo might not be the country’s largest, splashiest, or most hyped electronic dance music festival. But we’re going to go on record and say that it’s the best.” — Billboard

The only way to truly understand Electric Zoo and the dance music culture itself is to experience it – to put yourself dead center, amid the furry boots and driving bass lines. EDM is something you need to feel, not only hear, if you ever wish to truly understand it.” — RollingStone.com

For the fourth year in a row, Electric Zoo has redecorated New York City‘s Randall’s Island in its own sparkly neon image, transforming the East River outpost from public park to a floating big-name rave boat.” — SPIN.com

“As far as parties go, Electric Zoo is a marathon: In its fourth year, the Labor Day weekend dance music festival has grown to a three-day, four-stage, 100-plus-DJ, 100,000- fan extravaganza sprawled across Randall’s Island.” — The Wall Street Journal

“Electric Zoo reveled in the high-tech and the synthetic. The D.J.’s were small, peppy figures surrounded by dizzying, strobing video displays, the humans piloting the cybernetic colossus. What once was a club experience has proved to be, in geek terms, perfectly scalable to festival size; seeing the performer onstage is the least of anyone’s concerns when the music, the lights and everybody dancing are the real show. It’s a fully participatory man-made world, not just in staging but in the party gear worn by most people in the audience: fluorescent tutus and legwarmers, L.E.D.-equipped shirts and shoes, technicolor wigs and glitter adhering everywhere. Dancing skin becomes its own artificial display.” — The New York Times

“[Electric Zoo] was amazing! One of my favorite shows of the year. The festival premiered new 3D technology during my set, which made it really unique. It’s great that New York has Electric Zoo; the fans need this and the location on Randall’s Island is really special.”  —A-TRAK

It’s a real pleasure to perform to such a big yet discerning audience in one of the greatest cities in the world.”  —ABOVE & BEYOND

“Electric Zoo had to be one of the most magical places I have ever played in my entire life; the vibe of the crowd was so amazing. The fact that the festival is in New York is pretty amazing. Who doesn’t absolutely love New York? NY has definitely shown me that it is my second home, I wouldn’t be opposed to moving there…”  –DILLON FRANCIS

“[Electric Zoo] is a great experience and a great step for fans of dance music. So much diversity and progression in the bookings and the vibes. This was my 3rd and this was the best year. NYC is the inspiration. NYC is the king.” –DIPLO

“Electric Zoo was definitely one of a kind.  Besides the amazing lineup they brought this year, the entire event was just so well produced. New York is such an important market for EDM and being right in the heart of New York, surrounded by water and seeing the beautiful landscape of Manhattan is unlike anything else.”   – DJ BL3ND

“It’s great to be part of something that is so anticipated like Electric Zoo. We always get some new fans from playing at this show because a lot of people trust Electric Zoo and who they choose to play their festival. There’s so much attention to details at this festival. We appreciate that the focus is 100% on the music and the fan experience.” –GABRIEL & DRESDEN

“It’s crazy to have a festival of this caliber in such proximity to New York City. Electric Zoo definitely creates a certain vibe that I haven’t really experienced anywhere else.”  –KILL THE NOISE

“[Electric Zoo] was fantastic; the crowd is wild, cheerful and knows its music so I could play an ambitious 180° across the board set. My favorite! I consider New York as my home in the US. During my set I had the feeling I was adopted for good. That felt amazing.”  –MARTIN SOLVEIG

“The atmosphere was amazing and I loved every minute of the crowd’s energy. The people who come to Electric Zoo are just so passionate about the music and they really show it with their energy and enthusiasm. It really is so special. New York is one of my favourite cities around the world and I’m planning on living there in 2013 so it is my new home!”  –TIËSTO
