In a world where it’s hard to differentiate oneself within the global DJ scene, ROGER SHAH has done just that. His performances never fail to amaze as he merges the art of DJ-ing together with live arrangement. With one hand he plays his wireless keyboard and with the other he mixes a selection of roof-raising releases. His natural ability to blend mesmerizing melodies, pulsating basslines and groove filled percussion into dancefloor anthems sees him tour the world like a true rockstar. Ultimately he is humbled by the support of his fans who have voted him in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll for five consecutive years and gave him a double EMPO nomination for ‘Best Trance & Progressive DJ‘ and ‘Best Radio Show‘.
Roger Shah: “it’s an amazing feeling and a driving force for me to know that there are so many fans out there supporting me as an artist, voting for me for the DJ mag poll but also writing to me how important some of my music became for them in their lives, helping them to go through hard periods and more. It’s very touching and this is why I’m doing what I’m doing.”
As a special gesture to his fans, Roger Shah invites everyone to participate on his new upcoming song called “Mueve Tu Mundo” (Change your world). The lyrics invite to sing along with Roger on the chorus. Fans can record their vocal part of the original chorus and send as mp3/wav/aiff files or videos. All of these vocals will be combined to create a huge choir with voices from all over the world. It doesn’t matter if one sings perfectly or not, as long as minimal effort is shown. For more information and to stay up-to-date, be sure to like Roger Shah’s Facebook page: facebook.com/rogershahartist.
On the production side Roger keeps very busy. His vocal masterpiece that he made in collaboration with JES and Brian Laruso was released on the legendary Magik Muzik label and remixed by Egyptian trance kings Aly & Fila, Dutch producer Jesse Voorn, Pedro Del Mar& DoubleV, and Roger Shah himself under his alias Sunlounger. The official music video features a sunny boat ride journey highlighting the beauty of Miami’s shores.
The Roger Shah and Aly & Fila collaboration ‘Perfect Love’ hit the Top 10 of the ASOT Tune Of The Year poll, while Roger’s cooler Sunlounger guise has released ‘Finca’ with rolling melodies, uplifting pads and hooky piano creating an altogether cooler progressive-house anthem in the making and massive support by the likes of Armin Van Buuren or Above & Beyond to name a few.
Only a few weeks ago Roger rocked the Ultra Music Festival in South Korea. Ultra which has its home base in Miami is taking its festival world wide with other dates including South America and Europe. Ultra Korea was organized at Seoul’s Olympic Stadium Complex. Other artists on the line up included Tommy Trash, Krewella, Fedde Le Grand, Afrojack, Carl Cox, Armin Van Buuren, Avicii, Kaskade and Pedro Del Mar.
Forthcoming gigs include Future Sound Of Egypt 300 in both Amsterdam and Mexico City, The Mellomania Summer Cruise in Germany and the Summerdream Festival in Switzerland. Moreover Roger Shah will make his debut for Insomniac Events, the promoter known for the massive Electric Daisy Carnival festivals.
Roger has been working for a long time on the new SUNLOUNGER album which is due for release August 19th on Magic Island Records in cooperation with Black Hole Recordings. With the Sunlounger project he had chart entries on almost every continent. Pre-order the album here: http://bit.ly/17ZC7eF
Roger Shah: “I haven’t done too many shows this year because I wanted to have the time to deliver another outstanding Sunlounger album to keep my real Balearic fans happy. I hope that the trance family will appreciate my effort and show me some love and support me another year in this annual and important poll. It’s still like a dream for me that I was able to establish myself in this tough industry and to have a spot in the DJ Mag Top 100 for 5 consecutive years with a peak at #21.”
By far one of my most favorite sets from all of 2012, this set was recorded live at Nautilus NYE 2013 on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2012. Relive the experience beat by beat on this special edition of the show.

LOS ANGELES – Aug. 28, 2012 – There’s one journey that unites everyone in the world, the desire to feel connected. The search to find one’s destiny and be set free is fueled through JES’ brand new single “Before You Go” off her mix album Unleash the Beat. The new song, to be released by Black Hole Recordings through Magik Muzik Imprint and Ultra Records on Sept. 17th, brings together JES andEurope’s most sought-after beat maker, Andy Duguid for the very first time.
(Remix Preview and Itunes Pre-Order Links will go live on Aug 31st)
JES is the chart-topping, award-winning artist who has packed four albums and two Billboard #1 singles into five short years as a solo artist while touring internationally and collaborating with countless superstar DJ’s and producers like Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Kaskade, BT, Richard Durand and Cosmic Gate. Her new single, takes quiet instances contained in the chaos of life, and sums up every “what might have been?” moment and sets it to a contagious electronic opus made by Andy.
“I’m obsessed with every facet of city living, and what inspired me to write “Before You Go” are the ‘what if?’ daydreams we all have in those idle moments” says JES. “Those short fantasies, just imagining that everything could change with one glance across a crowded subway car or a stolen conversation in a coffee bar.”
After creating the lyrics, JES sought out someone who could design the sound that fit her vision. The EMD heavyweight found her match in skilled Scottman, Andy Duguid. The original pairing creates a magnetic force on the track.
“I had written the song and I was really happy with my vocals but when I sent it out to some producers I wasn’t inspired by what was coming back. I just knew when I heard Andy’s first draft, that he totally got the song and found the perfect sonority for it right away” says JES.
JES’s dynamic vocals fused with Andy’s electric sound brings a pulsing urgency to the single. Andy’s original mix and radio edit keep the prog wheels turning with a vocal heavy arrangement that is as melodically satisfying as it is rhythmically inspired by JES’s lyrics.
A super strong remix package features a trademark Taxigirl Edit and Mike Saint Jules reinvents the song with his signature sound of effect laden power-trance. Pedro Del Mar rips up the dance floor with a classic high intensity emo trance remix that will keep hands in the air from start to finish. Tech lovers will choose Re-Zone’s sparse but inventive techno infused offering that keeps the drops coming. Timothy Allen & Loverush take dance floors by force with their disco tinged prog house mix that lays screaming lead lines against deep chords and a pounding beat that just won’t stop. It won’t be long before “Before You Go” will hit the world’s dance floors with a bang.
JES has collected awards from the prestigious International Dance Music Awards at Miami’s WMC, the ISC (International Songwriting Competition 2008, 2009 and 2010) and topped Billboard’s “Most Played Dance Songs of the Decade” chart (2000-2010). Her most recent album release is “Unleash The Beat” and includes the radio hits “Awaken” and ”Every Other Way” (with BT). “Awaken”, a single from last year’s album “High Glow” (Ultra Music / Magik Musik) has also been a staple of dance music radio’s daytime play lists. Unstoppably staying on top of the game, JES now presents her brand new collaboration with Scotsman Andy Duguid.
Things may have been a bit silent on the Andy Duguid front, but behind the scenes he has been working very hard. Andy, who regularly performs as a DJ, has been in his studio for quite some time to work on new tracks, countless remixes and a new artist album. Andy made one thing perfectly clear wit his latest singles “I Want To Believe” (with Shannon Hurley) and “Music Box” (with Lizzie Curious) and that is that sound has evolved and grown. With the anthems “Don’t Belong” and “Wasted”, which both featured on Tiësto’s In Search of Sunrise series in his pocket, Andy built a rock solid reputation and so far released his album “Believe” and the mix compilation “Miracle Moments”. Regularly touring the globe to deliver his highly acclaimed live sets, Andy now once again confirms his status as a top producer with this fabulous new collaboration with Queen of Rocktronica, JES.
