Ultra Music Festival Breaks Records On Its 15th Anniversary + 2014 Dates!

AFTER 2 WEEKENDS, 330,000 ATTENDEES ANDOVER 10 MILLION UNIQUE LIVE STREAM VIEWERS, ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL OFFICIALLY CELEBRATES ITS BIGGEST, MOST SUCCESSFUL YEAR YET!

Ultra Music Festival 2013 - Miami, FL

“Looking back over the three days of dance music theatrics, it’s fair to say Ultra does nothing by halves…This year’s festival brought in crowds of over 150,000 ragers on both weekends, and there was no shortage of definitive moments…after Sunday’s Swedish send-off, the question is, how to top it in 2014?” – InTheMix

ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL officially concluded this past weekend as its most successful, elaborate and record-breaking year yet! After more than 330,000 electronic and live music enthusiasts descended upon downtown Miami’s transformed Bayfront Park to attend the colossal annual event – which took place over two weekends for the first time in its 15 year history – ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL looks back fondly at some of the highlights, records and memorable moments that made this year so very special.

For the first time ever, all SIX DAYS of the world’s premiere electronic event were streamed live over the internet via Ultra’s official YouTube channel UMF TV, in a broadcast which saw over 200 of the world’s leading DJs and electronic musicians watched by an audience of over 10 MILLION unique viewers from all corners of the globe – officially making it the most viewed festival event in North America to date!

Arguably the most notable climax of the festival was the last ever show from world-dominating Scandinavian trio, Swedish House Mafia. This scintillating final performance, full to the brim with mind-frazzling lights and pyrotechnics, state-of-the-art dynamic visuals, a back catalogue of their greatest hits new and old – and a hefty pinch of nostalgia thrown in for good measure of course – was in turn watched online by over 200,000 concurrent fans worldwide. This figure has now been officially declared by YouTube as the highest concurrent number of views for any US non-sponsored music stream!

Another incredible new addition, which must not go without special mention, was the sheer enormity of this year’s  LIVE STAGE and its talent. Set within the formidable amphitheater, and with live performances from the likes of Dog Blood, Azealia Banks, Snoop Dogg, Disclosure, Krewella, The Weeknd, Pretty Lights, Faithless, Booka Shade, Hot Chip, Crystal Castles, and many more, this newly concieved stage area heavily contributed to what was, by far, the most diverse and star-studded billing of talent in the festival’s 15 year history.

Although the lengthy plethora of highlights is far too immense to mention in full, other memorable moments included deadmau5’s return to Ultra with his stunning ‘Cube’ live show; Avicii’s second weekend performance on the eye-watering main-stage, in which he debuted brand new material from his upcoming album (with a slew of live appearances from legends such as Aloe Blacc, Mac Davis, Audra Mae and Dan Tyminski, and three members from the iconic Incubus – Mike Einziger, Jose Pasillas and Ben Kenney); and the surprise appearance of Grammy-winning guitarist Slash, who joined Dirty Dutch front-runner Chuckie during his main stage set for a live performance of their collaboration “Rocktronica.”

Following what has been by far the most extraordinary festival in the event’s mammoth 15 year history, ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL has also announced that they will return next year from March 28th-30th, 2014.

Looking forward, the next installment from Ultra Worldwide comes in the form of ULTRA IBIZA in May 2013. The exact details have yet to be announced, but you can stay tuned to the official Facebook page for up-to-minute information on dates, lineups and ticketing!

Ultra Music 2014 Dates - March 28, 29, 30 2014

As the world’s most famous outdoor electronic music festival, ULTRA has won “Best Music Event” by the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) six consecutive years, from 2005 to 2011, “Best International Dance Music Festival” by the Ibiza DJ Awards in 2008 and “Best Festival” by the Village Voice Media New Times consecutively five years running from 2005 through 2009.  Originally created as a pure electronic music festival in 1999, ULTRA has grown through the years to present not only the genre’s hottest, biggest and best headline artists (The Prodigy, Swedish House Mafia, The Chemical Brothers, Tiësto, David Guetta, deadmau5, Underworld, Kraftwerk, Armin van Buuren, Moby, Fatboy Slim, Justice, Carl Cox and Avicii to name a few), but also crossover headline bands that incorporate EDM elements in their music and have a history or new beginning in the EDM community and culture (The Cure, The Killers, New Order, Duran Duran, The Black Eyed Peas, Erasure, M83, Santigold, The Ting Tings, Cut Copy, Empire of the Sun and Bloc Party). In 2012, global pop icon Madonna appeared as a special surprise guest—the festival’s gift to their fans—to introduce the main stage final headlining artist AVICII, joining him behind the decks to premiere his UMF remix of her new single “Girl Gone Wild.”  The year also was the subject of CAN U FEEL IT, a major documentary feature about the festival, which was shown in over 500 theatres nation-wide.  Together with its signature, cutting-edge productions, ULTRA is unrivalled by consistently presenting the world’s greatest, most diverse EDM line-ups year after year. In 2013, as it celebrated its 15 year anniversary, ULTRA became the first major EDM festival in the world to expand to two weekends: March 15, 16 and 17 and March 22, 23 and 24. Both weekends sold out with a combined total of over 330,000 people in attendance from 95 countries, breaking the festival’s previous record. A global brand, ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL takes place in Miami, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Ibiza and Korea, expanding into Europe with ULTRA EUROPE July 2013 in Croatia.

Wavefront Music Festival presents NEVER SAY NEVER with SASHA & special guests | Miami Music Week - March 23, 2013

For the first time ever, Chicago’s Wavefront Music Festival and SLS Hotel South Beach team up to bring Sasha’s highly acclaimed Never Say Never party to Miami Music Week on Saturday, March 23. Created in Ibiza in 2010, the idea of Never Say Never is simple: it’s Sasha in curating mode, playing music that he loves, with DJ’s that inspire him. Never Say Never is a party for party people, with its focus set firmly on the dancefloor, known for featuring exciting, forward-thinking guests artists.

Never Say Never’s Miami edition is presented alongside Spybar Chicago, Verboten and En V Productions and will include special guests Adam Beyer, Guy Gerber, Dusky, Lee Curtiss, Thugfucker with Dino G and Garrett B. The beautiful setting at HydeBeach designed by creative mastermind Philippe Starck offers a chic, sophisticated escape with more than 8,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. There are three distinct areas including Hyde Garden, a surfer chic interior and an expansive pool deck with 100 chairs and private cabanas – all of which offer access to the SLS Hotel’s coveted beachfront.

On March 18, Sasha releases invol<3r, one of the most anticipated electronic music albums of the year. Lying at that halfway point between traditional mix album and original work, Sasha has woven together a stunning 2 CD set, reworking each individual track into a cohesive, flowing mix that moves from shimmering Balearic ambience to deep house and atmospheric techno. Album highlights include tracks from The XX, Little Dragon, Foals, ThermalBear, Blondes, Ananda Project, James Zabiela, Keep Shelly In Athens and beyond, plus a new production from the man himself featuring Kicki Halmos. And whether the tracks are previously unheard exclusives or known favorites, Sasha’s remixed each and every one for this album.

Ultra Music Festival 2013 Confirms Phase 1 Line-Up With Additions!

New Year’s weekend saw the much-anticipated Phase 1 Lineup of Ultra Music Festival’s Miami showdown make its way around the World Wide Web like wildfire after Avicii leaked the lineup online. If there was ever an excuse to slap ‘viral’ on an announcement then this was it! One week after the Internet frenzy, and the world’s premier electronic dance music festival can now confirm artists that will be performing throughout the 6-day/2-weekend marathon of sound, light and dance. Over the weekends of March 15-17 and March 22-24, Downtown Miami plays host to the event’s 15th year with an unparalleled bill of the best DJs, live acts and future talent this planet has to offer.

The world is already aware that this year’s edition of the iconic festival will mark the final curtain for Swedish House Mafia, who’ve chosen Ultra Music Festival as the ‘One Last Tour’ finale to end where it once began (Ultra Music Festival at Bicentennial Park in 2010).  Expect an unforgettable performance created specially for Ultra Music Festival by deadmau5, one of the industry’s most in-demand talents who returns to close out both Saturday nights.  Luminaries who have aided in shaping the movement make appearances across BOTH weekends include Tiësto, David Guetta, Armin van Buurenand Avicii as well as (in alphabetical order): Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Bassnectar, Calvin Harris, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Kaskade, Knife Party and Richie Hawtin. Of course, Ultra Music Festival wouldn’t be complete without the essential Carl Cox & Friends Arena, which has been announced in addition to Armin van Buuren’s (the world’s #1 DJ) A State Of Trance 600 Arena.  Mixmag—the world’s indispensible clubbing bible—will also slam into the sunshine with an area of their own and who can forget the #1 club in the world, Space Ibiza, bringing Phase 1 of Ultra’s 15th Anniversary to close with the return of their own Space Ibiza Arena.

It is not only the cosmic DJ talent that ensures Ultra Music Festival’s growth year after year, it’s also the LIVE elements that entice thousands of revelers to the Festival’s sun-kissed terrain.   This year, and again in alphabetical order, live performances includes:The Bloody Beetroots, Booka Shade, Boys Noize, Crystal Castles, Disclosure, DJ Fresh Live, Hot Chip, Major Lazer, Matt & Kim, Modestep, Rudimental, Thievery Corporation, and Yeasayer. All acts are confirmed to make appearances; some returning after more than a year’s absence and some making grand debuts, thus proving the forward-thinking and finger-on-the-pulse nature of Ultra’s festival organizers.  These lineups showcase Ultra’s ability to consistently deliver on talent, both fresh and established!

With all this in mind, let’s not forget this is only Phase 1 of a complete line-up of what is surely to go down as one of ULTRA’s greatest line-ups ever! For now, to enhance the already soaring excitement, you can enjoy another exquisite visual experience from UMF TV and Final Kid’s Charly Friedrichs, director of the epic Ultra Music Festival experience film, “CAN U FEEL IT.”  Get ready for a no holds barred indulgence!

COMMUNITY: Ultra Music Festival Announces 2 Weekends!

ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL
MAKES HISTORY AS THE FIRST GLOBAL MAJOR EDM FESTIVAL TO EXPAND TO TWO WEEKENDS

MARCH 15, 16 & 17 AND MARCH 22, 23 & 24, 2013

Ultra Music Festival 2013 Announces 2 Weekends!

WATCH NOW

“RELIVE THE ULTRA 2012 EXPERIENCE – CONTAINS MAJOR SHOCK ANNOUNCMENT”

ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL has now confirmed it will hold the 15th edition of its gargantuan event over two three-day weekends, March 15, 16 & 17 and March 22, 23 and 24, 2013.   This marks the first time ever for a major electronic dance music (EDM) festival to do so anywhere.

Having teased the world with a provocative countdown clock on its YouTube channel just days ago, Ultra Music Festival has today, October 15, shocked fans by revealing this extraordinary news right at the end of an exclusive video on UMF TV, entitled “RELIVE THE ULTRA 2012 EXPERIENCE.”

The video, created and directed by Final Kid’s very own Charly Friedrichs – director of the Ultra Music Festival film CAN U FEEL IT – ‘RELIVE ULTRA MIAMI’ showcases 14 minutes of the very finest moments from this year’s event and exclusively previews the double-delight that’s in store for March 2013.

Following a long weekend of speculation after the world’s premier electronic music festival launched a LIVE countdown movie on Its UMFTV channel on Friday October 12, fans can now plan ahead for what will be two truly historic weekends in the festival’s history.

Shrouded in secrecy for months, the team behind Ultra Music Festival – which last year drew over 165,000 fans – are excited to unveil this news.

Russell Faibisch, Co Founder, Executive Producer, President & CEO of the 15-year event said:

“After an extremely successful 2012 edition of Ultra in Miami, and the continuous overwhelming demand by disappointed fans that were unable to attend because of the early sell out, we’ve decided to do what Ultra has always consistently done throughout the years, pioneer, and push the EDM movement forward. So we are adding a second weekend of Ultra. This is a unique concept from anything ever done before in our space, as it will be 2 Weekends… 2 Unique Experiences. There are A LOT of incredible plans and surprises lined up for everyone attending our 15th Year Anniversary!”

Adam Russakoff, Executive producer, talent buyer and Director of Business Affairs adds,

“Being the first ever EDM leaning festival to go two weekends just supports our position as being the preeminent forward thinking brand in electronica.  Although we are already known as having the best and most relevant talent at our events, two weekends allows us to present even more and create two separate and distinct highly unique experiences for our attendees, let alone the impact this will have on the economy in terms of jobs and other ancillary industries like hotels and transportation.”

Following a recent study commissioned by Ultra Music Festival and carried out by the Washington Economics Group,  revealed the extent to which the festival boosts the city’s yearly economy and news of the ‘double header’ weekend won’t solely be music to the ears of electronica fans. In fact in 2012, alone the three-day event injected upward of $40 million directly into the Miami-Dale economy ($79 million if factoring in indirect and induced spending). With over 60% of visitors hailing from outside Miami-Dade, the local fiscal benefits that this news brings will be unprecedented.

Tickets for both weekends go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, October 17, exclusively from www.ultramusicfestival.com
